"Players start out with the trusty Vagabond, a reliable vehicle armed with a pea shooter. It’s not the fastest, doesn't have the best handling or armor, yet it’s just enough to survive the initial Death Rally. With each new bracket, Death Rally introduces more experienced opponents with faster cars and bigger guns looking to destroy anyone and everyone that gets in their way. Surviving and winning each race gives players more money to tune-up, repair, and upgrade their car. They can also upgrade to meaner guns and better cars to out drive and blow away the competition."

You remember that insane tech demo that Epic released on the iPhone and iPad a few months back? The one with the amazing graphics. Well, isn't that refreshing. A major company such as id Software has put out a major release on the app store for 99 cents (SD) and 1.99 USD (HD). RAGE's iPhone and iPad versions have just hit the marketplace today and feature 'Mutant Bash TV'.
RAGE won't be coming out until later in 2011 but you can check out the HD and SD versions to get a taste.

John Carmack - one of the masterminds behind id's new shooter Rage has revealed that an iPhone game based Rage will be out sometime soon back at Quakecon. Well, it seems that time has come. A few days ago, the Bethesda blog has revealed the name in a featured post. The game will be called 'Mutant Bash TV' and include replayable levels and is a first person shooter. Read the juicy bits below.
The little slice of RAGE that we decided to build the iPhone product around is “Mutant Bash TV”, a post apocalyptic combat game show in the RAGE wasteland. This is the perfect setup for a quintessential first person shooter game play experience — you pick your targets, aim your shots, time your reloads, dodge the bad guys, and try and make it through to the end of the level with a better score than last time. Beyond basic survival, there are pickups, head shots, and hit streak multipliers to add more options to the gameplay, and there is a broad range of skill levels available from keep-hitting-fire-and-you-should-make-it to almost-impossible.
A large goal of the project has been to make sure that the levels can be replayed many times. The key is making the gamplay itself the rewarding aspect, rather than story progression, character development, or any kind of surprises. Many of the elements that made Doom Resurrection good the first time you played it hurt the replayability, for instance. RAGE iOS is all action, all the time. I have played the game dozens of times, and testing it is still fun instead of a chore.
